Today is mum's birthday. As any good daughter does, I gave her a call to wish her happy birthday. They, mum and dad, were driving back from a grandparent visit in Bundy and were passing through Tamworth; the home of country music. Now I'm not a major boot scooter, but I do like the occasional Elvis tune. And don't get me started on the queen of country music, Dolly Parton!

Anyhow, while looking for ideas for today's post and trying to keep things 'manly', I came across the above Elvis portrait from scultor and photographer Dominic Episcopo. Known for his United Steaks of America series, he has created a number of well known icons out of a piece of steak.

Not to be outdone, Jasmin Schuller recreated favourite dessert dishes, John Isaacs uses plastic to recreate life like chuncks of meat (in this case the form of an arm and plank of wood), James King considers brings biotechnologies into the picture, considering the meat of the future and butcher Svenskt kott made carving a whole lot easier with their simple 'meat maps'. Actually, the Portland Meat Collective try to help out in that department.. offering short carving courses to to those interested. And finally, I couldn't pass by Damien Hirst and what he has done with the cow. New eating spot Tramshed has managed to get their hands on his work, hoisting it high above the dining room.
